What was you most memorable meet or race?
The most memorable race for me is Rim Rock my senior year. This was my first and only victory in cross country. I never expected to win a race, and to cross the finish line first was an amazing feeling.
Out of all your high school accomplishments, which stands out the most?
Finishing 6th at the state XC meet. My junior year I finished 56th and never expected to excel in cross country, but my senior year of cross country things just seemed to click.
If you could do it all over again is there anything you would change?
I would have ran cross country for all four years of high school instead of just junior and senior year. I really just want to know what I could have done with two full years of training.
What will you miss the most?
I’m going to miss all my teammates, coaches, and the meets. I have had great teammates over the year. Fun to talk to, train with, hang out with. All the pasta parties, workouts, ice bathes. It was by far the best part of high school.
Do you have any advice for younger athletes?
The biggest advice I have is to trust in your coaches and training. Coaches are always looking out for what is best for you.
What are your college plans?
I competing in XC and track at the University of Tulsa, while majoring in Petroleum Engineering.
Who would you like to thank?
I would like to thank God for blessing me with the abilities and capabilities of doing what I love. All of my teammates for always being there for me and pushing me. Noah Kauppila for truly pushing me to become a better runner, and without him I wouldn’t be where I am today. All of my high school coaches that taught me everything I know about running. Momilesplit for providing great coverage around the state, and I admit I look and follow every single stat on it. Thank you.
