Meet Preview: Parkway Central’s Limited/Unlimited Invite

Meet Preview: Parkway Central's Limited/Unlimited Invite

With our first week of official track and field season complete it is time to start look to the first meets coming down the pipe in two weeks. Every week we will preview upcoming meets as part of our coverage for this coming track and field season.

Today we preview our "early bird" meet the Limited/Unlimited Invite. The Limited/Unlimited was the crazy concoction inspired by my mentor and Central Boy's Coach Steve Warren. For a few years he had been running dual meets against a number of his buddies, and in these meets, he had developed a unique schedule. Coach Warren discovered that he could get a lot of competition in by cutting out many unnecessary races that are not entirely needed in a dual meet. But cutting out all the relays and half the running events but allowing unlimited entries each athlete would get a chance to compete while the coaches learn in race like conditions who rises to the competition. I adopted these ideas for our Limited/Unlimited Invite's format. The meet will take place on Friday, March 24th at Parkway Central High School. The genius of the format is all your kids get to compete, they don't get overloaded, and the meet is run relatively quickly. If you would like to join us, please contact me as we have THREE Girl's Team Openings we would like to fill before the meet.

Format for the Limited Unlimited Meet

Athletes will compete at grade level. Each division will get scored separately.

The Track events are as followed with unlimited entries:

800 Run (Sixteen Athletes Per Heat Power Seeded by Grade)
100 High Hurdles (Power Seeded by Grade)
100 Dash (Power Seeded by Grade)
1600 Run  (Sixteen Athletes Per Heat Power Seeded by Grade)
400 Dash (Power Seeded by Grade)

The Field events are all contested but with four entries in each grade level except in the Pole Vault and High Jump. In the two vertical Jumps, we will be allowing two athletes per grade level.
