Here are some of the other meets that will be going on throughout the state. We will be sure to include results for these meets as soon as we get them, too.
9/9 Stan Nelson Invitational House Springs, MO
Often an afterthought when all eyes are affixed to Forest Park, Stan Nelson continues to draw an incredible amount of teams all things considered. Run on a very famous course that continues to produce great performances, the Stan Nelson remains one of the premier meets in early September. This year, a number of strong teams and athletes will descend upon the Northwest Early Childhood Center in Cedar Hill including the
Parkway West boys and girls,
Kirkwood boys, and
Lindbergh girls. Individuals to watch for include all 7 of the boys who run varsity for Parkway West, but also
Evan Adrian and
Christian Baker of Kirkwood,
Connor Kingsland and
Billy Driemeyer of Lindbergh, and
Alex Hunn of
CBC. On the girls side, Parkway West will do battle with Lindbergh as it will most likely be
Chloe Hershenow or
Emily Dickson or
Natalie Butler vs.
Abby Juedemann for the individual title. Other competitors include
Mercedes Schroer of
Christian,
Amie Martin of
Fox, and
Seckman's Stephanie Anthonies. We will have a photographer on site capturing photos for this meet and have them live on the site as soon as we can!
Confirmed Teams: CBC, Desoto, Fox, Hazelwood Central, Hazelwood West, Hillsboro, Kirkwood, Lee's Summit, Lindbergh, Living Word Christian, Maplewood Richmond Heights, Mehlville, Northwest (Cedar Hill), Parkway Central, Parkway West, Riverview Gardens, Rockwood Summit, Seckman, St. Charles, St. John Vianney, Villa Duchesne
9/7 Carthage Invitational Carthage, MO
Not a huge meet by any stretch of the imagination, but what Carthage lacks in size, it makes up for in firepower this year. There are 3 preseason ranked boys teams and 3 preseason ranked girls teams in the field already. The varsity girls race will feature individuals like
Kelie Henderson and
Laci Lindsay (
Bolivar),
Kaitlynn Franks,
Madison Beecher, and
Maegan Derfelt (
Carl Junction),
Brianna Marquez and
Jenari Lopez (
Carthage), the Barber twins from
Ozark -
Alexis and
Brocklyn, and
Sydney Pyrah (Willard). As for the boys race, it appears that the top 2 finishers from last year in Trenton Starchman and Ryan Riddle will not be competing. Instead,
Clayton Whitehead will be the biggest competition from Carthage after his 16:46 from Greg Wilson.
Christian Blake Procell and the
Nixa boys will be looking to make it a winning streak after their win at Richard Clark/SWCCCA.
Haddon Spikereit will lead the
Webb City boys into battle this week after his 16:37 at SWCCCA last weekend.
Confirmed Teams: Bolivar, Carl Junction, Carthage, Central (Springfield), Joplin, Nixa, Ozark, Webb City, Willard
9/9
Raymore-Peculiar Inviational
Peculiar, MO
Ray-Pec will host the biggest meet on the western side of the state this weekend. Typically, the Ray-Pec Invitational draws 20-30 schools each year and should do the same this year. Though many of the teams on last year's results sheet have confirmed entries for Forest Park this season, we don't see why this still won't remain a competitive meet, especially considering the mere fact that Ray-Pec will be there makes it competitive. With Makenzie Stucker and Miranda Dick running stride-for-stride with each other for these first two 2 Mile races this season, they appear locked and loaded for success moving forward and could really turn some heads at this meet. Liberty will be travelling down for this race, too, so expect to see a showdown that includes Madelynn Hill as well. Ryan Flood should highlight the boys race until we receive more information on confirmed teams, but either way, the preview of the Class 4 District 7 course should draw more teams down and make it a competitive meet in its own right.
Meet Info
9/9
Arcadia Valley Invitational
Ironton, MO
In small school news, the Arcadia Valley Invitational will provide us with a great deal of information on some of the premier Class 1-3 schools in the state, particularly in SEMO where there is a rich amount of talent. There are no Class 4 teams in this field, but there are a few storylines we will be following here. Crystal City girls will be in attendance and hoping to answer the noise that New Haven's girls have been making of late. On the boys side, Caleb Cornelius of Saxony Lutheran is looking strong and should be a favorite to take the tape first here. Many of the teams in play here are not on our radar, but should any surprises come about, even with all of the big schools taking the attention at FPXC, we will make sure you are aware of all of the small school developments.
Confirmed Teams: Arcadia Valley, Bloomfield, East Carter, Chaffee, Crystal City, Delta, Dexter, Grandview (Hillsboro), Greenville, Kelly, Kingston, Meadow Heights, North County (Bonne Terre), Potosi, St. Paul Lutheran, Saxony Lutheran, Valle Catholic, Viburnum, West County, Windsor
9/5
Chillicothe Invitational
Chillicothe, MO
For a Tuesday meet, this has typically been a very big one in the past for Northwest MO schools. Ashley Riley of South Nodaway should be in attendance and we'll see how fares against the St. Joseph Christian girls and Allison Aleshire of Moberly. Riley has already run 20:20 this season and is making a strong case to be the new #1 in Class 1. We expect to see Ben Craven, too, of St. Joseph Christian as he should be the favorite heading into Tuesday's race.
