PR - 2:22.39
Derfelt sneaks into our preseason rankings after running 2:22.39 in this race as a sophomore. She was 14th last year, but has been a big name in the Class 3/4 distance running in only her first two seasons, especially with her 19:19 5K personal best. Her 5:30 1600 best gives her the edge over some of her competitors, but her prowess in her early career gives us reason to give her the edge.
7. Emma Kelley - Webster Groves, SO
PR - 2:20.02
Kelley's freshman year was an interesting one in that she started out in her first 800 with a 2:40.85 debut and found herself, 7 weeks later, with a 7th place medal and a near sub-2:20 personal best. Kelley finds herself 7th at the moment, but if she makes another huge improvement, watch for her up front down the final stretch this May.
