Meet breakdown:
Girls-
4x800 (9:22.68/Schaumburg [2011]): The opening event on the docket of course usually gets the blood moving pretty well. We all know from past ventures many teams are going to run their best times to date. The state leader is Glenbard West at 9:27.59 and that could fall hard. Hinsdale Central recently ran their top girls in individual events at the Cardinal Classic. They produced three marks under 2:20 and the fourth one was 2:22. That on paper is superior and we could see something under 9:20. Let's hope the opening leg pace goes out fast as a set up. Traditional powers Yorkville, Downers South, Lyons Twp, and Hoffman Estates are in the field. Minooka should have distance ace Emily Shelton on the scene and if so, they could have a finish inside the top five.

4x200 (1:41.03/Lincoln-Way East [2016]): The meet record is certainly safe and maybe the state best 1:43.09 by Homewood-Flossmoor may hold as well. Batavia and Bolingbrook and possibly Whitney Young could battle for the win.

4x400 (3:54.77/Lincoln-Way East [2016]): Homewood-Flossmoor was here last year and they hold the state best of 4:05.22. Hoffman Estates and Lincoln-Way East have fast seed times for the "championship section." Whitney Young is proven after their fabulous performance several weekends ago at the HF Indoor Showcase. Let's see what happens from the penultimate section with W. Aurora. They may have "Cinnamon" Dajour Miles in tow.

BOYS-
4x800 (7:45.80/Sandburg [2016]): This has been the #1 event for ages. It will continue as the state leader Danville and its 8:06.36 is in jeopardy. Sandburg, Neuqua Valley, Downers Grove North, Whitney Young, and Glenbrook North is in the field. Let's not forget the host Downers Grove South followed by Batavia, and Glenbard West. By Tuesday morning it will be like an overnight blizzard that blankets the landscape. Only this team it will be fresh times on the leaderboards.

4x200 (1:30.50/Plainfield South [2011]): The leanest event on the menu for various reasons. Tight turns and it is hard to find more than two real fast legs that can garner times in the 1:28-29 range. Maybe one day if traditionally fast schools such as Cahokia or E. St. Louis Sr. would get an invite, things may change. Then there is always the prospect of sloppy stick play. It doesn't matter if the state leaders or regular Joe teams are here. We are guaranteed to see several dropped batons and crashes. The state leader is Plainfield North and their mark of 1:31.43 looks safe. IL #10 Proviso East, Batavia, and Minooka look like the teams to beat.

4x400 (3:22.63/Plainfield South [2011]): IL#2 Proviso East will be tough to beat in this field as they have the second fastest time in the state with a solid 3:27.27. Batavia and Minooka will get a good try though.
