Salute to Seniors 2: B. Fusco, R. Riddle, E. Catic

Edina Catic (Bayless)

Q: What was your most memorable race/moment?

A: My most memorable race would be the first time that I qualified for state in the open 400 my sophomore year.

Q: Who would you consider your biggest competition over your four years?
A: I honestly cannot narrow my biggest competition down to just one person. I've had different competitors all four years.

Q: What was your greatest accomplishment?
A: My greatest accomplishment was qualifying for state finals this year in the 400 & 200 after coming off of a two month long injury. I had my doubts about going to state, but I couldn't let an injury stop my successes. Standing on that podium proved to me that injuries are nothing compared to determination.

Q: If you could do it all over again what would you change about your running career in high school?
A: I would definitely change the way that I train. I never trained in the off season and I realize that I should have because I could have produced better results and been more satisfied with my running.

Q: What were the most difficult obstacles you had to overcome?
A: The most difficult obstacles would be the back pain that I had endured that kept me from running most of the season and the hip strain that I got on the first day of practice.

Q: What will you miss the most?
A :I will miss my coaches and supporters the most. I'll miss being able to represent my school and I'll miss running against some of my greatest competitors.

Q: What advice would you give to younger athletes?
A: Train in the off season because it is so crucial that you stay in shape and don't get any injuries that could prevent you from running.

Q: What influence has your coach had with respect to your performance and overall life goals?
A: My coaches saw more in me than I did in myself. They never doubted me for a second and always believed in me when I didn't. The only reason why I was so successful with track is because of them. Shout out to Coach Amen, Knight, and Mike! You guys are the best.

Q: What are your college plans?
A: I plan to attend Maryville University on a track scholarship. I will be studying Exercise Science.

Q:Who would you like to say 'thank you' to?
A:I have so many people to be thankful for; the list can go on and on. However, I am most thankful for my coaches, my family, my supporters, and my athletic trainer for dealing with my injuries every day.

Q: Is there anything else you'd like to add?
A: I want to give a HUGE thank you to God for giving me the ability to run and for answering all my prayers during the season.

Q: What was the funniest thing that happened during your running career?
A: The funniest thing that happened to me during my running career would be making the mistake of eating Hot Cheetos before a race. I sure did learn my lesson.
