Highland Springs Springs Back at NBNO

Highland Springs did not have the state meet they wanted to on either side. Instead of calling it quits, the Springers got back on the track and sprang back for the New Balance Outdoor Nationals.

Over the course of the weekend they tallied up three victories, two meet records, and finished with four All-American athletes.

Starting things off for them was their Girls EE 800m SMR (1-1-2-4). They ran a blistering 1:43.20 to beat Western Branch's old meet record and win the event. This team was comprised of Kamryn Ross, Shaneece Smith, Alicia Thorpe, and Gartasia Crawley

That exact same quartet followed that victory up with another win, this time in the EE 4x1. They passed the stick around and finished in 47.73 to win the event.

These girls were not done though. They then came back on the third day and finished 4th in the entire nation with their 3:46.85 clocking in the 4x400m relay. That time ranks 20th all-time in the state of Virginia. This team was made up of Thorpe, Ross, Kayla Spencer, and Crawley.

Their guys also had a huge meet. They were very close to All-American finishes in multiple relays and individually tagged on another two huge performances.

The first of them was William Spencer running a quick 14.09 to finish just .02 seconds away from winning the 110H (EE). This was a huge race for him showing his high hurdle speed.

His teammate Keyonte Midgett showed us his jumping strength with a 48-4 meet record in the EE Triple Jump. That mark took down the old meet record.

The way Highland Springs performed this weekend is only the beginning for this program that is very visibly becoming one of the best in the state.
