Top Break Out Candidates in Class 4

Boys

Christian Baker (Kirkwood)

Yeah, yeah I know what you are going to say "how can a State Champion be a breakout candidate?" Well you see prior to his two State Medals in Track this Spring (including said State Title in the 3200m) he had never been All-State. He finished 29th last year and hold a PR of 16:03, but judging by that 9:21 3200m, I'd say he has the ability to compete for an XC State Title this Fall.

Zach Reed (Seckman)

Last year Zach placed 50th at State, and had a season best of 16:19 which was a major improvement from the year before. Fast forward to Track Season, and he improved by over 20 seconds in both the 1600m and 3200m with times of 4:25, and 9:55. If Zach can keep his trend of improvement up, he should be ready for a break out XC season.

Patrick Hetlage (SLUH)

Hetlage placed 64th at State last year and holds a PR of 16:22. He did PR in both the 1600m and 3200m during Track this Spring with a 9:44 and 4:33. He will look to use this experience to have a breakout year in his final season.

Charlie Teeter (Webster Groves)

Charlie placed 89th last year at State, and his season best was 16:45. He had an impressive Track season though, as he dropped nearly 30 seconds in his 3200m time with a PR of 9:34 which placed him in Class 4. He'll look to build on his successful Spring and have another strong season this fall.
