Highlights

Sprints/Hurdles

St. Joseph Christian junior Alexa Taff won the sprint double on the girls side running times of 12.40 in the 100 and 26.10 in the 200 to come out on top in both.

 

Worth County's Eli Mullock completed the sprint double winning the 100 and 200 in times of 11.01 and 22.62.  His 100 time broke the 15 year old state record set by Robert Parker (Missouri School for the Deaf) back in 1996

 

 

Vienna senior Katlyn Meier dominated the hurdles on the girls side winning both the 100 and 300 Meter Hurdles with times of 15.61 and 47.25 respectively.  Southwest (Livingston) senior Alexandra Black gave Meier a run for her money in the 300 hurdles finishing just .16 seconds behind her.

 

Distance

The Marion County Girls 4x800 were the first to  be crowned State Champions at the Class 1 and 2 State Championship as they won the Class 1 4x800 with a time of 10:08.84, ten seconds in front of second place Midway.

 

Halfway senior Olivia Francka ran away with the 1600 Meter Run winning with a time of 5:19.26 over Mackenzie Weis 5:23.11.

 

Midway junior Mackenzie Weis got her revenge in the 3200 winning with a time of 11:34.49 over Francka's 11:48.79.

 

Blake Goodin (Princeton) repeated his distance triple crown from last year winning the 800, 1600, and 3200 in times of 1:58.25, 4:31.27, and 10:12.95.

 

Jumps and Throws

Wheaton junior Bubba Galvan had a busy weekend winning the 110 and 300 Meter Hurdles as well as the Long and Triple Jump.  Galvan was the only individual at the Class 1 and 2 State Championships this year to win four individual events.

 

Bucklin junior Marc Finney came out on top in the High Jump winning with a jump of 6-06 barely beating out Logan Holmer and Mike Spicer's 6-04.

 

Makayla Vette, Rock Port senior, dominated the Girls Shot Put field winning by over three feet with a mark of 38-03.5.  Vette came back on Saturday to win the discus by ten feet with a throw of 118-11.

 

Senior Samantha Kircher of New Franklin came out on top in the Girls Triple Jump with a jump of 34-09.5.  Mallory Eitel of La Plata was close behind in second with a mark of 34-04.75.

 

Team

 

 

Team Champions were Midway with 54.5 points on the girls side and Valle Catholic on the boys side with 63.5 points
