Class 1-2 State Meet Saturday Coverage

  

Blake Goodin had a busy day running the 1600, 800 and a leg on the 4x400.  After winning the Class 1 Boys 800 in a time of 1:56.14 he not only won his 11th State Gold (tieing the state record), but he also took down the Princeton school record, held by none other than his father.

 

Alexa Taff, St. Joseph Christian senior, had a busy day winning the Class 1 Girls 200 and 400 and taking second in the 100 making her a 9 time State Champion.

 

Kaitlyn Fischer came back strong Saturday after winning the 1600 Friday to dominate the Class 2 Girls 3200 winning in a time of 11:15, 30 seconds ahead of second place and a personal best by a second.

 

Barstow junior Deko Ricketts edged out a tough field winning the Class 2 Boys 1600 Meter Run with a time of 4:27.45.

 

Wheaton junior Darrell Burns came within an inch of the Class 1 Boys State High Jump record winning with a mark of 6-09.

 

The Brookfield boys narrowly edged out Trenton and Lamar by less than half a second to come out on top in the Class 2 Boys 4x400 Meter Relay with a time of 3:26.30. 

 

Monroe City junior Carly Spaling came out on top in the Class 2 GIrls 100 with a time of 12.29.  Spalding also won the Long Jump and took fourth in the 200.

 

Maplewood Richmond Heights sophomore Essence Brewer blasted a 25.14 to win the Class 2 Girls 400.  She also dipped under 60 to take third in the 400.

 

College Heights Christian junior Savannah Beaver blasted a 2:18.64 to win the Class 2 Girls 800 Meter Run.

 

On the boys side it was Mark Twain senior Austin Hardy coming out on top in the Class 2 800 with a time of 1:57.92.

 

The boys from Stanberry got it done in the Class 1 Boys 4x400 winning with a time of 3:31.78.

 

 

Stanberry, anchored by Kaleigh Wilmes, followed their guys example edging out the field in the Class 1 Girls 4x400 winning with a time of 4:14.15.
