Kearney is at the top of the heap coming into the season. However, Grandview has an unreal streak of state trophies and well coached. At the end of the state meet it may actually come down to the last event to decided who brings home the title. Raytown South like Grandview has been a KC powerhouse for decades. Every year it seems as if they reload instead of rebuild. The only thing that will slow the two KC super teams down will be the fact that they will bump out each other's qualifiers at the sectional meet and thus limiting their potential points at the next level state. Parkway Central is the dark horse as they return a healthy hurdle star Darius Ramsey who last year was relegated to relay duty due to a late winter shoulder surgery. Class 4 boys could be the closest state competition at the class 3,4,5 state meet.
