The class 3 boy's title will be one of the tightest races this spring track and field season. Reed Springs comes into the spring with strong representation in the sprints and throwing events. The interesting thing about Reed Springs is they have a large number of athletes making up their points. When we get to the smaller schools typically a lot of points are centered on one or two talented athletes. Reed Springs bucks the trend with a large number of talented youngsters. Lamar has been crushing people in the throwing events for years now. As per tradition, Lamar has great throwers again but also sprint stud Luke Hardman an athlete previously featured on our All-Classes Preseason All-State List in the 100 and 200 dashes. John Burroughs could seriously play the spoiler role. John Burroughs's talent is overflowing including athletes in a number of events and could put together major league relays! Having a age group world record holder is probably going to help too. Owensville is next on our list. Lets face it Matt Candrl is one of the best coaches in the state. He routinely has kids getting to state and has developed a great program where he maximizes his talent. This year Coach Candrl will have a very good boys squad and much like Reed Springs has talent in a number of areas. His jump squad is only behind Clinton High School in preseason points. Relays are not included into the total points because of graduating athletes and new 2017 configurations. I included them below for informational purposes.
