Stephen Mugeche, a senior at Blue Springs High School in Missouri, blistered the course at the Greg Wilson Classic in Kansas to run one of the faster times in the country this season with a 15:14 victory. The US #23 ranked and 8:58 3200 runner Mugeche won by 34 seconds in a new 5K personal best time. The St. Thomas Aquinas (KS) boys inserted 5 runners in the top 20 places for a team score of 71 points with a 53 second spread to earn the team title over Rockhurst (2nd 74 pts).
Meanwhile, the girls race winner saw the US #1 time posted for the 4K distance with Blue Springs South senior Grace Klausen dropping a remarkable 75 seconds from her 2013 win at the Greg Wilson Classic with her nation leading time of 14:12. Klausen is coming off a track season which she flirted with breaking 5 minutes in the mile with a 5:02 1600 meter performance. The St. Thomas Aquinas girls made it a total team sweep for their program on the day averaging under 15 minutes for their top 5 with 5 finisher among the top 14 positions.
