Festival of Miles and Nike Team Up On High School All Star Races

SAINT LOUIS, (MO) ---- The Festival of Miles track meet in Saint Louis is now in its ninth year and features two-and-a-half hours of action complete with music and a huge crowd of 2,500 plus screaming fans. In 2011, the meet added high school all star races to its schedule and since that time some of the nation's top preps have put their stamp on the event. Last year, Grand Blanc High School senior Grant Fisher ran in the professional men's race and became the seventh U.S. prep to break four minutes in the mile with his 3:59.38. His current Stanford teammate Hannah Long ran in the professional women's 800 and her 2:04.23 ended up being the nation's #2 time in 2015. In just five years, 20 boys have broken 4:12.00 and 20 girls have broken 5:00 in the mile at FOM. The high school 800 was added in 2014 and meet records are 1:50.45 and 2:09.03. This year's FOM will take place on Thursday night June 2 at Saint Louis University High School and can be seen LIVE on Flotrack.

This year's high school races are once again sponsored by Nike and all competitors will receive Nike uniforms to compete in. There are 76 total high school all star spots up for grabs. The meet receives entries from all over the country and will accept the top 30 boys mile times, the top 30 girls mile times, the top 8 boys 800 meter times and the top 8 girls 800 meter times into the meet. Marks must have been set in the 2016 outdoor season. Early entries for this year's meet include 3-time defending champion Stephanie Jenks (IA) and 4:05 1600 meter man Jon Davis of Oakwood High School (IL).
