Week 10: The Last Rung of the Ladder

Class 1 Districts 5-8

Class 1 District 5 - Hermitage

Top 5 Boys

1. Easton Sabala - Hermitage

2. Braeden Decker - Humansville

3. Peter Fowers - Laquey

4. David Storment - Fair Play

5. Josh Galloway - Hermitage

This was probably the easiest call we will have in Class 1. Easton Sabala will probably win the state meet by a landslide this November. Honestly, he probably the only boy in Class 1 who could compete for a top 25 in Class 3 or 4.

Top 2 Teams (State Qualifiers)

1. Hermitage (projected points: 35)

2. Fair Play (projected points: 51)

Hermitage is going for their 4th straight state title, but Fair Play is not too far behind in the district. New Haven is looming from District 2, as well, and it should be an interesting matchup between those two in November.

Top 15 Girls

1. Kaylee Foster - Fair Play

2. Alexis Workman - Summit Preparatory

3. Cassilyn Enyart - Summit Prep

4. Madi Sutt - Hermitage

5. Aleah Asare - Hermitage

Alexis Workman has the family advantage, but appears to be lacking the seasoning. After a strong debut, she has been unable to replicate that instant success, but could very well get back to her sub-21:00 ways this weekend. Kaylee Foster, though, was able to handle her earlier, and may just do it again this weekend.

Top 2 Teams (State Qualifers)

1. Hermitage (projected points: 21)

2. Fair Play (projected points: 51)

Fair Play appears ready to make it through behind a top 4 talent in Hermitage, even though their 1-5 split is currently over 10:00. Fordland is the only other team with 5+ runners in the district, but their 1-5 split is not much better (8:56).

Class 1 District 6 - Moberly

Top 15 Boys

1. Garrett Fessler - Salisbury

2. Jesse Weinstein - Salisbury

3. Dillon Seckington - Meadville

4. Zane McAdams - Northeast (Cairo)

5. Dustin Davies - Braymer

Top 2 Teams (State Qualifiers)

1. Salisbury (projected points: 34)

2. Glasgow (projected points: 45)

Salisbury is led by 2 of the top 10 boys in Class 1 so they should breeze to the victory in District 6.

Top 15 Girls

Top 2 Teams (State Qualifers)

1. Salisbury (projected points: 31)

2. Glasgow (projected points: 38)

Salisbury and Glasgow both dominate this district with Nicole Helm and Hadley Sanders being the far and away two best girls and Glasgow being 35 points ahead of Braymer.

Class 1 District 7 - Warrensburg

Top 5 Boys

1. Chase Ratliff - Weaubleau

2. Jesse Schultz - Lutheran Kansas City

3. Christian Hinrichs - Lutheran Kansas City

4. Brendon Engeman - Montrose

5. Chandler Stephens - Midway

Chase Ratliff and Jesse Schultz is the best race in the Class 1 districts as both boys were top 5 ranked preseason. Ratliff has looked a little better than Schultz so far this year, but Schultz has been coming on strong the last few weeks.

Top 2 Teams (State Qualifiers)

1. Lutheran Kansas City (projected points: 29)

2. Weaubleau (projected points: 60)

Top 5 Girls

1. Lauren Ada - Lutheran Kansas City

2. Anne Thomas - Lutheran Kansas City

3. Julia Marriott - Stover

4. Madison Chiappetta - Lutheran Kansas City

5. Ciara Battin - Midway

Top 2 Teams (State Qualifers)

1. Lutheran Kansas City (projected points: 17)

2. Smithton (projected points: 42)

These are the only two full teams in the district so they are basically automatically going, but Lutheran is actually a team that will be competing at the state meet and they probably would have dominated this race regardless.

Class 1 District 8 - Smithville

Top 5 Boys

1. Max Davies - West Platte

2. Lane Zembles - Mound City

3. Logan Dunkin - Princeton

4. Phillip Pattison - West Platte

5. Preston Thomas - Princeton

Top 2 Teams (State Qualifiers)

1. West Platte (projected points: 45)

2. Mound City (projected points: 70)

Max Davies is another big name in Class 1 right now and will be a top 5 finisher at this year's state meet. He will lead West Platte to the state meet more than likely out of District 8.

Top 5 Girls

1. Ashley Riley - South Nodaway

2. Emma Derr - Mound City

3. Audrey Maggart - St. Joseph Christian

4. Anna Carter - St. Joseph Christian

5. Lexi Elmore - West Platte

Top 2 Teams (State Qualifers)

1. St. Joseph Christian (projected points: 45)

2.  Mound City (projected points: 49)

St. Joseph Christian has looked good since we ranked them top 5 heading into the season, but Mound City is ready to give them a run and West Platte is tracking close. It will be interesting to see if Lea Moose can get back to where she was back last year and if so, then West Platte could take the team title.
