Pre-Season Rankings: Class 3 3200m

Girls

8. Daelyn Schmauch - North Callaway, SO

PR - 12:03.84

Schmauch had a very solid freshman campaign and could very well be higher than this ranking. The younger Schmauch sister qualified for state both in the 1600 and 3200 running personal bests of 5:23.14 and 12:03.84, but was unable to go home with an individual medal. She did, though, anchor the 4th place 4x800 relay team. Schmauch was an important member of the 3rd place team in Class 2 this fall as she finished 16th at the state meet and should leave Jefferson City with multiple medals this spring, including one in the 3200.

7. Kinsey Sorrell - East Newton, SR

PR - 11:55.80 (2016)

Sorrell roared down the straightaway for a state title in the 800 last year, but she is also one of the top returners in the 3200. The softball star ran an abridged cross country season this fall, but was still able to grab another all-state medal in Class 3 this year. She did not qualify for the 3200 last year, but was 6th in the 1600 before grabbing gold in the 800. Her 11:55 as a sophomore is her personal best and she ran 11:59 as a junior before focusing on the middle distance, but if she goes for all three again this season, she should be a solid choice for medals in all three.
