Ray-Pec's Chris Mckinzy will be competing in both the 60mH and Long Jump this weekend. The defending Class 5 State Champion in the 110mH currently sits ranked 53rd nationally in the 60mH with a time of 8.13. It's a very competitive field for him, so it'll be interesting to see if he can drop some time during Prelims Saturday morning at 8:55am CT. He's competing in the Emerging Elite Division of the Long Jump as I'm typing this article.
Another Ray-Pec athlete, Jalen Butler, is competing in the Emerging Elite 60m. He comes into the weekend with a 60m PR of 7.13. It'll be a competitive field for him, and he should be able to use the field to push him to a new PR. Jalen was getting ready to run as I was typing this article.
Competing in the Emerging Elite Division of the 60mH and Long Jump will be Lee's Summit West's Vonzell Kelley. Last year Kelley was the Runner in Class 5 in both the 110mH and 300mH, and ran 8.35 in the 60mH in his first attempt at the event earlier this winter. His Long Jump PR of 23-4 should put in him in a position to finish near the top of the field in that event as well. Both events were going on at the time of writing.
