2018's Eight Biggest Breakout Athletes So Far

1. Ethan Macoubrie - Grain Valley

The first of two high jumpers on our list, Ethan Macoubrie is quickly cementing himself as one of the top high jumpers in the entire state, much less Class 4.

After a 6-8 clearance at the Kearney Invitational, the two-time state qualifier (who coincidentally finished 13th in both state meet trips) has already improved his personal best by four inches and is now tied for second in the state and sits first in Class 4.

A three sport athlete, Macoubrie is no stranger to diversification as he has also thrown 150-11 in the javelin in his first season trying it out. That has him tied for ninth at the moment in Class 4.

2. Tyra Wilson - Rock Bridge

The future of female hurdling in Missouri is extremely bright.

Just when we thought we had seen all of the phenomenal freshmen last season, Tyra Wilson has let us know there are still more coming down the pipeline.

A star in the making, Wilson has already put her stamp on the hurdle events with a Missouri #1 14.52 100 hurdles mark at the Holt Invitational and a Missouri #2 44.90 in the 300 hurdles. Furthermore, her 38-4.5 triple jump ranks her third in the state and seventh in the entire country among freshmen.

Rock Bridge just keeps on churning out star athletes and Wilson appears ready to make runs at multiple state titles this year. The biggest question is: Can she hold off last year's Class 5 Class of 2020?

She should be able to hold her own fairly well.
