Mid-Season Team Rankings: Top 4 Girls Teams Per Class

Class 5

1. Lee's Summit West

Projected Point Total: 101

After scoring a State Record 109 points last year, the Titans are in position to score over 100 yet again. As things line up currently they would score in all 6 event groups (though there Sprint points come from Jana Shawver who ended up running the a relay at State rather than the 400m). They get the bulk of their points from throws (32) and relays (26). Makayla Kelby is currently ranked 1st in both shot and disc, and Maddie Harris is ranked 2nd in Javelin and 5th in shot. They are also currently ranked in the top 4 in all four relays (4x800 1st, 4x100 3rd, 4x200 4th, 4x400 4th). I don't think anyone is surprised to see them in first at the midway point of the season.

2. Park Hill

Projected Point Total: 59

Park Hill has opened some eyes here to start the season. Taiya Shelby is responsible for 22 of their 59 points, as she is currently 1st in the 400m, 2nd in the 800m, and 5th in the 200m. They also are ranked first in all three sprint relays combining for 30 points. Kristen Birmingham is also 4th in High Jump, and Lashunda Tapp is 6th in shot to round out their scoring.

3. Blue Springs South

Projected Point Total: 48

Unsurprisingly Blue Springs South gets all but 3 of their points from their distance squad led by Seniors Victoria Findley and Danielle Hotalling.  Findley is ranked 1st in the 1600 & 3200 and 4th in the 800, while Hotalling is ranked 2nd in the 3200 and 5th in the 1600. Both of those two are also legs on their second ranked 4x800 squad. Akirah Venerable rounds out their scoring with a 6th place 300H time.

4. Blue Springs

Projected Point Total: 44

The Blue Springs Girls get their points from several different people across different events. On the Distance side Tessa Valdivia is currently ranked 3rd in both the 1600 & 3200, and she is also ranked 5th in the 800. Elaina Hubner rounds out their distance points as she is ranked 7th in the 3200 and 8th in the 1600. In throws Myra Tupai is ranked 4th in Disc, Reagen Kanagawa is ranked 5th in Javelin, and Koby Tyler is ranked 7th in shot. Sarah Coy picks up points in the hurdles with a 4th ranked time in the 100H. To round out their scoring, they are currently sitting in 3rd for the 4x800, 7th in the 4x100, and 8th in the 4x400m.
