2017 All-Staters Battle for Championship

With the Defending Champion having graduated, the door is wide open for a few of the top returners last year to try and take his spot. The top returner from a year ago is Runner Up Chase Ratliff of Weaubleau who comes in with a season best of 16:42. Also returning is third place finisher Max Davies (16:56), forth place finisher Jesse Schultz, and  sixth place Evan Smith (16:31). I think its going to be a close race, but I think the Champion is going to Chadwick's Evan Smith. Smith has put together a season of solid low 17's and twice has gone well below 17. His 17:02 on the State Course in September is also a good sign that he's ready to roll. I think Ratliff will be a close second as he's also strung together a really consistent runs of low 17 and two sub 17's.

A New Champion Will Be Crowned

With defending Class 1 Champion New Haven having now been promoted to Class 2, we will have a new champion this year. This race is really hard to pick a winner for as they are all very, very tight. However, I'm going to go with Liberal as they have the virtual meet edge and seem be the most balanced of the bunch. I think they'll be followed by Lutheran (Kansas City) then Blue Eye and Fair Play will take the last spots for the team trophies.
