Last year, Victoria Findley was a single place away from a trip to the Nike Cross National meet with her 17:49.60 7th place finish. Now tearing it up with the University of Missouri, the top returner among the individual girls will be Miranda Dick who took 59th in 18:51.50. Ginger Murnieks and Madelynn Hill, the top two fastest girls in Missouri this season and the first and third finishers in Class 4, should be the top two contenders to qualify if anyone this year. Murnieks has shown her propensity to run up to strong competition as evidenced by her third place finish at the McQuaid Invitational. Even though she hails from the home of the NXN meet, this will be her first time competing and she could prove to be a sneaky sleeper pick for an individual qualifier spot. Hill will be in the mix as well and could challenge the 18:00 barrier.

Lee's Summit West girls made headlines this season when they cracked the MileSplit50 national team rankings. They now sit at 18th in the country, but will have to do battle with at least three teams ranked ahead of them in Naperville North (IL), Yorkville (IL), and Downers Grove South (IL). Centerville (OH) and Beavercreek (OH) are also listed in the entries, but their state meet being Saturday could affect their attendance on Sunday. Speed rating projections list LSW girls as low as 18th in the team rankings, but a top 10 finish should be within reach for this squad. Raymore-Peculiar could also sneak into the top 10 with strong races from Miranda and Marissa Dick and Makenzie Stucker.
