Kansas Relays

The Kansas Relays always brings out some of the best performances of the season, and this year was no different. The weather was the best I've ever seen it for this meet, and despite it being a bit windy we still saw some great performances as a result.

Sprints

Danielle Frank (Hazelwood Central) picked up the win the girls 100m with a time of 11.67 (Wind aided) for her first sub 12 100m. Josh Sutton (MICDS) took second place in the boys 100m with a 10.58, Micah Manning (Lee's Summit) third with a 10.62, and Imon Bell (Hazelwood Central) 5th with a 10.76 (All wind aided). Devin McHugh (Nevada) won the boys 400m with a time of 49.01, and Ethan Bowers (Kickapoo) place third. Chris DuPree (Park Hill South) also made his debut with a 48.74 in prelims, but did not run in the final. Emari Grimes (Fort Osage) was the top Missourian in the 400m placing 4th with an 58.47, Caleia Johnson (Park Hill) was 5th with a 58.65, and Hadley Jetmore (Pembroke Hill) was 6th with a 59.10.

Scout Regular (Incarnate Word) picked up the win in the 100m Hurdles with a time of 14.26, Osayi Omorodion (North Kansas City) was second with a time 14.43, and Allison Brumley (Nixa) was 5th with a time of 15.07. Courtney Watkins (Hickman) took first in the 110m Hurdles with a 14.31 (wind aided, 14.01 in prelims was also wind aided) D'monte' Blanks (Grandview) was third with a 14.56. Cori Davis (Blue Springs) was third in the 300m Hurdles with a time of 45.03, and Liberty Brown (Warrensburg) was 5th with a 45.59. Courtney Watkins also took second in the 300m hurdles with a time of 38.91, and Viktor Tsymbal (Smith-Cotton) was third with a 39.57.

In the girls 4x100m Park Hill took second with a time of 49.08 (48.96 in prelims), and Hazelwood Central was fifth with a time of 49.56. On the boys side Hazelwood West placed second with a time of 42.98 (42.51 in prelims) and Hazelwood Central was 6th with a 43.29 (43.07 in prelims). The Park Hill girls were also second in the 4x200m with a time of 1:44.27, and St. Teresa's was fifth with a time of 1:45.46. The Hazelwood West boys won the 4x200m with a state leading 1:27.29, and Blue Springss was 6th with a 1:31.20. In the 4x400m, the Lee's Summit West girls took 2nd with a 4:03.30, just edging out cross town rival Lee's Summit North who was third with a 4:04.38, and Ozark placed 4th with a 4:06.25. The Hazelwood West boys picked up another victor in the 4x400m with a state leading 3:19.18, and Blue Springs was 6th with a 3:25.90. Nixa also placed 9th, and had a prelim time of 3:24.45. 

Distance

Missourians dominated the Boys Distance races at KU this weekend. Jack Warner (Staley) won the 800m with a time of 1:55.73, Martin Strong (Kirkwood) was third with a time of 1:56.83, Micah Bruggeman (Joplin) was 4th with a 1:57.22, and Will Carroll (Lee's Summit West) was 5th with a 1:57.42. 8 of the top 9 runners in the 1600m were Missourians as well. Tom Seitzer (Rockhurst) edged out teammate Wes Porter for the win with a State leading time of 4:15.80, Porter ran 4:15.88, Jack Crull (Helias) was third with a 4:16.49, Christian Baker (Kirkwood) was 5th with a 4:18.57, Chandler Gibbens (Hickman) was 6th with a 4:19.25, Clayton Whitehead (Carthage) was 7th with a 4:19.87, Micah Bruggeman was 8th with a 4:23.28, and Michael Rebello (Excelsior Springs) was 9th with a 4:24.15. Talk about domination. Clayton Whitehead won the 3200m the day before with a 9:19.95, Jack Crull was second with a 9:22.85, Chandler Gibbens was third with a 9:27.20, and Michael Rebello was fifth with a 9:32.65. Park Hill South won the Boys 4x800m with a time of 8:02.66, and Hickman was third with an 8:05.31.

On the Girls side, Addie Coppinger (St. Teresa's) picked up the win in the 800m with a state leading 2:16.92, Audrey Parson (Lee's Summit West) was third with a 2:18.23, Madison Hulsey (Lee's Summit West) was 4th with a 2:18.73, and Madelynn Hill (Liberty) was 5th with a 2:19.04. In the 1600m Ginger Murnieks (Lee's Summit West) laid down a state leading 4:59.97 to finish third, and Madelynn Hill was sixth with a season best 5:05.06. Madelynn Hill also placed third in the 3200m with a PR of 10:50.25. Lee's Summit West took third in the 4x800m with a 9:39.42, and Ozark was 6th with a 9:58.23.

Field Events

Jessica Haney (Lee's Summit West) took second in the High Jump with a mark of 5-07 with Alecia Westbrooke (Park Hill South) placing 5th with a 5-03. Lenetta Lee (Summit Christian) won the long jump with an 18-07.50, and Lauren North was fifth with an 17-09.5. Jessica Haney also took third in triple jump at 37-10, and Tayte Kozlowski (Kickapoo) was 6th at 37-02.75. Missourians went 1-2-3 in the Pole Vault, with Hadley Jetmore (Pembroke Hill), Gabrielle Hoke (Warrensburg), and Carly Pujol (Notre Dame) all clearing 12-0. Mikayla Deshazer (Lincoln College Prep) took 2nd in the Discus with a throw of 153-05, Karly Parcell (Hickman) was third with a 143-02, and Jacqueline David (William Chrisman) was 6th with a 136-02.75. Kennedy Aurentz (Kickapoo) took second in Shot with a 44-06.75, Maddie Harris (Lee's Summit West) was third with a 43-03.25, Mikayla Deshazer was 4th with a 42-05.5, Jacqueline David was 5th with a 42-04.25, and Lashunda Tapp (Park Hill) was 6th with an 41-05.25.

Johnny Brackins (Lee's Summit) won the long jump with a leap of 23-06.75. He also won the triple, with Missourians going 1-2-3, with a jump of 48-01.25. Remerdie Ndiang (Kirksville) was second with a 47-06.5, and Taris Jackson (Carthage) was third with a 47-05.25. Jackson Rinehart (Jackson) took second in pole vault at 15-08, and Reagan Ulrich (Branson) took third also clearing 15-08. Adetomiwa Adebawore (North Kansas City) took second in discus with a throw of 181-10. Isaiah Davis (Joplin) took third in the javelin with a throw of 188-0.75. Justice Akinmoladun (Grandview) took 5th in shot with a throw of 57-09, and Addison Snowball (Park Hill South) was 6th with a throw of 57-01.
