Class 1 Girls

Sprints

Danielle Wilson (Greenwood) will look to pull off the sprint treble, as she comes into the State meet with the fastest times in 100, 200, and 400 this year in class 1 with a 12.66/25.95/60.19. Makenzie Schwartz (Russellville) will be her biggest challenger in both the 100 & 200, as she comes in with the second best times with a 12.72 100 and 26.56 200. Wilson will be challenged in the 400m by Victoria Orton (St. Joseph Christian) who comes in with a season best of 60.87, and Delaney Straus (Marion County) who has a season best of 61.17, and is looking a winning a quadruple between the 400, 800, 1600, and 3200. More on that in a bit.

In the 100m Hurdles Anna Gladstone (Worth County) will face off against Jerzey Allen (Bevier) for the state title. They come in with times of 15.81 and 15.94 respectively, so it should be a close finish. Makenzie Schwartz (Russellville) is the top ranked 300m hurdler entering the weekend with a time 47.79, and she'll battle with Carly Thacker (Hardin-Central) who has a time of 47.91, and Anna Gladstone who has a 48.18.

Distance

As mentioned previously Delaney Straus (Marion County) is looking to pull of a quadruple between the 400, 800, 1600, and 3200. She has the fastest time in all three distance events coming to the weekend. In the 800 she comes in with a time of 2:22, and her closest challenger will be Macy Rodenberg (Wellington-Napoleon) with a time of 2:24. In the 1600 she enters witha  time of 5:21, with her closest challengers being Claire Hemry (Gallatin) and Riley Arnold (Blue Eye) with times of 5:24 and 5:27 respectively. Finally in the 3200, she come in with a season best of 11:30. Her biggest challenge will be from defending state champion Ashley Riley (Jefferson-Conception Junction) and defending XC State Champion Riley Arnold who have ran 11:45 and 11:49 respectively.

Jumps

Olivia Renfro (Thomas Jefferson) enters as the favorite in the triple jump with a season best jump of 36-1. However, Andrea Yount (Bakersfield), Alyssa Yung (Glasgow), Olivia Richards (South Holt), and Josey Burton (Santa Fe) have all jumped 35-2 or better and will be in the hunt.

Long Jump looks to be neck and neck with no clear favorite. Anna Gladstone (Worth County) has the best jump coming in with a 17-4.5, while Andrea Yount (Bakersfield) and Danielle Wilson (Greenwood) have each jumped 17-2.5, and Marissa Jensen (Stanberry) has jumped 17-1.5. Your guess is as good as mine on this one.

High Jump could be a close contest as well. Marissa Jensen (Stanberry) has the best mark coming in with a jump of 5-5, followed by Brooklyn Miller (St. Joseph Christian) at 5-4. and Adriauna Wallen (Greenfield) at 5-3.

Keelin Engel (Worth County) has the best vault this year with a 10-0, and her teammate Regan Allee (Worth County) is ranked second at 9-6. Jade Morris (Hermitage) and Savana Scarborough (Wellington-Napoleon) have also cleared 9-0 and thus could be in the hunt this weekend.

Throws

The Girls Shot Put looks to be a two girl race between Hannah Whitlock (Schuyler County) and Skylar Shepherd (Stoutland). They come in with throws of 39-9 and 38-6 respectively, and will be gunning for the title this weekend.

In Discus Merrideth Spiers (Worth County) enters with a throw of 130-1 and will be the favorite to win. Alivia Baucom (Rock Port) and Abigayle Vogel (Appleton City) will look to pull of an upset and enter with throws of 126-5 and 124-2 respectively.

The Javelin looks like it really could go a number of ways. Brooklyn Miller (St. Joseph Christian) has the best throw entering the meet with a 126-11, but she is closely followed by Elizabeth Bales (Salisbury) and Abigayle Vogel (Appleton City) who have thrown 125-2 and 122-11 respectively.

Team Scores

It looks like its going to be a very tight race for the Class 1 Girls team title this year. Last year's runner up, Worth County have the slightest of edges in the virtual meet. They are slated to defeat St. Joseph Christian 63.5 to 61.5 for the title. Blue Eye is also very close in third with 55 points. That leaves Greenwood, Salisbury,  and Marion County battling for the last trophy at 40, 40, and 36 points respectively in the virtual meet.
