IL Prep Alum Kahmari Montgomery Wins NCAA D1 400m Title

Former Plainfield Central superstar Kahmari Montgomery adds another accolade to his war chest

Before Kahmari Montgomery grew into a collegiate sprint star, he grew his chops with legendary track and field coach Thomas Boatright and his Aurora Flyers Track Club. Montgomery has always had his eyes on becoming a premier sprinter at the next level ever since he won the triple crown (100, 200, 400) during his senior year as a prep. One stint at the University of Missouri only made Montgomery hungrier to be the best he could be upon completing his transfer to the University of Houston. The final outcome this past weekend netted him his first individual title in his beloved 400m. "Kmo" as he is affectionately nicknamed snatched the gold medal from the jaws of defeat in a Knick of time known as 44.23. It would be the school record as well as the 8th fastest time in NCAA history. And as a bonus, Montgomery can brag about having the 2nd speediest time in the world.
