Robinson Brings Home Two Gold Medals from U20 Pan-Am Games

Justin Robinson certainly is no stranger to the spotlight, and he has shown he has what it takes to perform at the highest levels of our sport. Coming off of an opportunity to represent Team USA at the U20 World Championships in the 4x400m last year in Finland, Robinson was wearing USA on his chest again this past weekend in Costa Rica.

As the U20 National Champion in the 400m, Robinson earned the opportunity to compete in the U20 Pan-American Games this past weekend in both the 400m and 4x400m. He opened up his weekend on Friday morning with a 45.96 time in the semi-finals to advance him to the finals later that evening. In the final Robinson got off to a great start, making up the stagger on Anthony Cox of Jamaica who was in the lane just outside of him by the end of the first curve. Come off of the final curve he looked to be in a dead heat with Canada's Myles Misener-Daley but Robinson pulled away in the final 60m running 45.04. That time is the second best of his career, and the 5th fastest time ever by an American high schooler (he already has the second best time with a 44.84).

He then finished up his trip to Costa Rica, teaming up with fellow high school sprinting sensation Matthew Bolling to break the U20 World Record in the 4x400m with an amazing 2:59.30 to bring home the gold for Team USA.

Robinson's next races will be in Lima, Peru in a couple of weeks as he has been selected to compete in the 4x400m for the United States Senior team at the Pan American Games, marking the first time he will be competing in a senior event against the world's best.

Take a look below at what Justin had to say about his awesome weekend.
