Missouri State XC Championships Recap

Class 1 Boys

The Class 1 Boys race led off the day and it was a tight race throughout. Jace Cavness (The Fulton School at St. Albans) and Tyler Blay (West Nodaway) battled it out very closely throughout the entire race and it all came down to the last 1000m. Blay led the way most of the race and was just ahead of Cavness at the 4000m mark, but Cavness ran a 3:18 last 1000m to Blay's 3:22 to earn the State Title with a time of 16:39 to Blay's 16:42. Ryan Cardenzana (Blue Eye) was the third place finisher at 17:00.

The Oak Ridge Boys (pun intended) cruised to the team title in Class 1 with 89 points. They had two State Medalists, and put 6 runners in front of every other teams 5th runner. This is the first State Championship, and their second team trophy after they finished as the Runner Up last season. The remaining trophy teams weren't separated by very much as Blue Eye took second with 140 points, Calvary Lutheran was third with 144, and Fair Play took fourth with 148.
