Class 2 Boys
The Class 2 Boys race was one of the best of the day as Daelen Ackley (El Dorado Springs) and Malik Stewart (Maplewood-Richmond Heights) put on a show. They were neck and neck through 4000m, but that last 1K is what made the difference. Ackley held strong with a 3:08 last 1K to win the State Championship with a time of 15:39, with Stewart placing second with a time of 16:01. Sam Shuman (Spokane) placed third with at time of 16:06.
Defending State Champion Fatima showed yet again they have what it takes, and ran a great race to win the Class 2 State Championship with a score of 77 points. They kept moving up as the race went on, and had a dynamite last 2000m to propel themselves to the title. Steelville narrowly defeated East Newton for second place with 115 points to East Newton's 118. Hermann also made a HUGE move starting at the 3000m mark where they were 7th as a team to place 4th with 122 points.
