Athletes currently enrolled in Middle School (Grades 7 & 8) and High School (Grades 9-12) may compete over a 5km course for individual and team awards. Teams will be comprised of three athletes, while a fourth and fifth team member may serve to displace. The team scoring will be the same as a cross country meet, scoring by place of finish.

The top 10 finishers in the boys and girls divisions of the Middle School and High School divisions will earn individual awards, the top finisher being declared a National Champion. The top 3 teams in both the boys and girls MS and HS divisions will earn team awards. HS athletes must "qualify" to participate in the annual US National Snowshoe Championships by completing a USSSA recognized qualifying event over the course of the season.

Also, all participating athletes must be current full USSSA members. How to qualify can be found on the informational event websites shown below.

Note: The top 3 overall finishers in the MS/HS 5km National Championship event will also earn berths on the 2020 US Junior National Snowshoe Team and be eligible to represent the USA in national and international snowshoe competition over the upcoming year.
