KC Lightfoot Wins Boys Athlete of the Decade

After five rounds of voting, Missouri Track fans have decided that KC Lightfoot is the Missouri Boys Athlete of the Decade.

The 2018 graduate of Lee's Summit High School had a tremendous high school career as a pole vaulter. He won four State Medals, including three State Championships in the event. He hold's the Missouri state record vault of 18-5, which also stands as the second highest vault ever recorded by an american high schooler. He also holds the all-class state meet record, as well as the class 5 state meet record.

Lightfoot also had success on the national level as he won the New Balance National Outdoor Championships in 2018. He also won two USATF National Titles, winning the indoor meet in 2018 and the Outdoor meet in 2016.

He chose to continue his career at Baylor University, where he earned All-American honors after placing fourth at the NCAA Championship Meet. He is also a three time Big 12 Champion (2x Indoor, 1x Outdoor), and placed third at the USA Outdoor Championships in 2019 to earn a birth to the 2019 IAAF World Championships where he placed 15th.
