The Class 3 Girls 2020 Season Preview

The Individual Title Race

With defending Class 3 state champion Julia Ray and MICDS making the leap to Class 5 this season, we will have a new champion in Class 3 this fall.

Lilian Jackson (St. Charles West) is the top returner from the Class 3 race a year ago, where she was the runner up. She ran a big PR of 18:39 in that race, and the time stands as the fastest returning time in Class 3 as well. She'll look to drop even more time this year, and move up to the top spot on the podium.

The second fastest returning time in Class 3 belongs to Macy Schelp (Lutheran South). Schelp returns with an 18:44 she ran at McNair Park the week before districts last year. She placed tenth at the state meet last season with a 19:17, and this year she'll look to be below her PR as she tries to make a possible state title run.

2017 state champion Kylie Goldfarb (John Burroughs) is also in the field and ran 18:54 at the state meet last season for a fourth place finish. She had to overcome late season injuries last year, and if she's healthy this year she will no doubt be able to challenge for the title.

The Team Title Chase

Just like in the individual race, last year's defending team champion MICDS has made the leap to Class 5, leaving the Class 3 title race wide open for 2020. In fact, none of the podium teams from Class 3 last year are in Class 3 for 2020.

Last year's runner up in Class 2, Father Tolton, however looks to be in contention for the Class 3 crown this year. The third place finisher in Class 2, Lawson, also moved up to Class 3 this year and will be competing for the title.

Other teams to watch compete for a podium spot are Potosi, Herculaneum, Owensville, Centralia, and El Dorado Springs.
