Despite the very unique circumstances of this season, athletes and teams have still been able to run some incredible performances so far in the 2020 cross country season. We are going to take a look at those top performers today in Class 2.
Alexis Workman (Summit Prep) has had a pretty awesome start to her senior cross country season. She currently own the fastest time in Class 2 with a 19:04 that she ran last week on a fast Camdenton course. She's been sub 20 in all three of her races so far this season, and has gotten faster each week. She'll look to keep the momentum going in the coming weeks.
Defending state champion Alex Sharp (Brookfield) has also had a solid start to her season. She currently holds the second fastest time in Class 2 with a 19:21, and has won six our of her eight races this year including a win at the Clarence Cannon Conference Championships on Monday.
Rita Eimer (St. Pius X - Festus) also has a good start to her senior year. She comes in with the third fastest time in Class 2 at 19:24, and will look to keep building on that over the next few weeks. She's finished first of second in every race she's been in so far, and she'll want to keep that going as we make the turn for the postseason.
Tanner Talley (New Covenant Academy) has made big leaps in each of his three races to start the season. He currently holds the fastest time in Class 2 with a 15:51 he ran last week at Camdenton. He'll look to keep improving as he tries to compete for a state title this fall.
Sam Shuman (Spokane) has also had a solid start to his season, having already notched five wins in eight tries. His season best of 15:55 is the second fastest time in Class 2, and he'll definitely be competing for a state title here in a few weeks.
