Wow. That's all we have to say about Week 5. Action across the state this weekend, in particular, was on fire with amazing performances at the Tiger Town Invitational, Ken Peek Invitational, Fred Lyon Invitational, and more. Week 5 was a turning point in the state, marking the start of the rise toward the state series. District meets start in two weeks! Who do you think was the performer of the week in competition week 5?
Each Monday this season, we will be running a poll with five candidates for Performer of the Week that was, highlighting five athletes from around the state who did something amazing in the last seven days. Vote for who you think deserves the honor!
Polls open at 7:00am on Monday and remain open until 5:00pm on Friday. The athlete who wins will move to our end-of-the-season "Performer of the Year" poll and will not be nominated again for the weekly poll for the rest of the season. Athletes who were nominated and do not win will not be eligible to be nominated for one full week.
Congratulations to our recent poll winners:

Here are this week's nominees:
Isla Alfultis - Helias Catholic
Alfultis gets a second nomination after lighting it up at the CMAC Championships. She won the 100, 200, 100m Hurdles, and 300m Hurdles in times of 11.80, 24.36, 14.60, and 43.04. The 200 mark was a personal best, but all four marks led the state in their respective event this week.
Ella Messner - St. Teresa's Academy
Messner led the state in the 3200 with her 10:52.75 personal best and season debut in the event. She won the prestigious Ken Peek Invitational title and was the only girl under 11:00 all week.
Avery Muniz - Nixa
Avery Muniz led the state this week with her 13.08m (42-11) personal best in the shot put. It was good enough to nab her the victory at the Ken Peek Invitational and good enough for second among Class 5 athletes, fourth overall this season.
Bailey Hensgens - Incarnate Word Academy
It is hard to quantify exactly what Hensgens did at the GISL Championship on Wednesday. She became the first Missourian to ever break 1.83m (6-0) with the 1.85m (6-0.75) personal best. She won the event, obviously, and added victories in the long jump and triple jump while finishing second in the 400. The triple jump season debut mark of 12.17m (39-11.25) led the week and is now MO #1 overall.
Kamryn Florea - Lawson
Florea cleared a personal best of 3.69m (12-1.25) en route to victory in the pole vault at the Mineral Water Classic in Excelsior Springs. The reigning Class 3 State champion is now third overall in the state and first in Class 3.
