Festival of Miles Watch List #4

The MoMileSplit.com High School All Star Mile is just over a week away!

Congratulations to all the Missouri Class 1 and 2 State Championship participants on their performances this past weekend and good luck to all the Class 3 and 4 qualifiers on Friday and Saturday.

For our last watch list we want to let you know exactly how the MoMileSplit.com High School fields for the Festival of Miles will be announced and exactly how to enter if you haven’t already! Boys and Girls interested in running can sign up HERE. We will allow 14 athletes into each race so if you’re close to the entry standards of 4:20 (boys) and 5:10 (girls) you should sign up! On Sunday May 27th, one day after the Missouri Class 3 & 4 State Championships, we will announce the fields  on MoMileSplit.com. The boy’s field will be announced in random order at 4:07pm complete with athlete bios for each participant. The girl’s field will follow in the same format at 4:52pm. After each field has been announced we will put up polls on the MoMileSplit.com message board so the predictions can begin!

A LITTLE MORE INFO ABOUT THE FOM: The Big River Festival of Miles presented by Under Armour will take place on Thursday night, May 31st at Saint Louis University High School. Tickets for the event are $5 and all proceeds from the gate go to the family of Chris Lister. Read more HERE. The event features nine great races including the GO! St. Louis Healthy Kids Mile at 6:30pm so if you are in 1st – 8th grade or are the parent of a 1st – 8th grader sign them up! The MoMileSplit.com High School Girls Race will take place at 8:15pm, under the lights, just before the AppWorldSolutions Elite Women’s 800. The boy’s race will take place after the 800 and just before the last race of the night, the Saint Louis Track Club Elite Men’s Mile. Eight runners have broken four minutes at the Festival of Miles in the last three years and this year’s race features several sub-4-minute Olympic Trials qualifiers. So high school all stars; you’ll be sharing the track with some of the country’s best runners!

All High School All Star Milers will receive an Under Armour singlet and shorts to race in. Each race will have a rabbit with the girls going out at 4:50 mile pace and the boys at sub 4:10 pace. Last year’s races were amazing with Daniel Everett from Westminster Christian Academy running 4:07 to win by just three seconds over his brother David in 4:10. Nerinx Hall star Colleen Quigley won the girl’s race in 4:52. Daniel and Colleen just happen to be two of the best college freshman runners in the NCAA this year with Daniel having just run 3:42 for 1500 meters and Colleen going 10:02 in the steeplechase. Both are provisional qualifiers for the Olympic Trials!

So if you’ve entered….good luck. We hope you get in! If not we expect to see you at SLUH cheering like crazy for your fellow high school runners. Can’t wait!
