The Lutheran St. Charles girls began defense of their Class 2 state track title Saturday at their home track. The squad was pushed by Montgomery County, but the Cougars came out on top of the team standings 140-124 by winning eight events at the Class 2 District 2 meet. The Cougars won the state title 64-47 over Herculaneum last year.
