Any thoughts about the performances of the week for both boys and girls? Lets post them here and the athletes might make the list in our upcoming polls.

Might be a bit biased here as her coach, but Kimberlee Sewester won the 800 at UCM in 2:20.9 and then anchored a DMR an hour later in 5:22.

Alicia Burnett winning the triple vs several state champions from classes 3, 4 and 5. She won't see this type of loaded competition the rest of the year. State will be a letdown compared to this. The times were exceptionally fast for this time of year. The 200 was wind-aided but the 100 was legal and still produced two sub 12 times in March.

Burnett's day was ridiculous that is my pick for overall. Boys I think Lamont Allen (my opinion is biased) has a case. Jumped 6-8.25 in HJ, 44-9 in Triple jump, finished 3rd in LJ (despite spiking himself in his only legal jump), and finished 6th in the shot in his first ever performance in that event. NOt a bad day in late March. Regardless of who is best, I like reading this thread because it is highlighting some performances I wouldn't know about otherwise.

I'm biased, but I'll throw Josie Fortney's (East Buchanan) "hat in the ring." She won the class 2 long jump title last year with a PR of 17-5.25. She opened the season last Thursday with a leap of 18-4 and had another jump at 18-1.

I was very impressed with the distance events at Festus this weekend. Francis Howell girls 4x8 was missing 2 of their top 4 and still opened up the season with a 9:55.2 (2:29/2:41/2:22/2:21) and went 1-3 in the open 800. JR Erin Gilbert is one to watch in the 8 -- she was the 2:22 split and 3rd in the open. Tori Findley's 1600/800 double was impressive, as well. 5:05 and 2:23 is rolling. She gave Maddi Leigh a run for her money in the 8. Mollie Rogan ran 18:42 in the 5k Friday and then 5:18 in the 1600 Saturday. She's ready for those 2 day college meets, I see! Also, Nerinx's 4:06 4x4 was impressive to me. On the boys side, Festus was loud in the distance relays, not to mention the Ste. Gen trio who were all 3 sub-10. There were 11 guys under 10:05. Talk about March Madness! The boys 800 was a great race, too, with Joey Reed and Noah Hunter throwing out the year's first sub-2's. What a great event -- kudos to all the coaches at Festus!

You're right it was impressive. Quality field. Look for Jefferson City's Brendan Bena to also get down below 2 before all is said and done.

Alicia Burnett is easily the performance of the weekend and I don't think its close. Beating like 3 or 4 state champs in what essentially her first HS meet is insane. And for good measure the 100 time is the 6th fast wind legal time recorded this year (although we should note there are some times without wind indicators that are faster per https://www.athletic.net/TrackAndField/Division/Event.aspx?DivID=80153&Event=19&type=4) Alicia Burnett is about to wipe Alishea Usery records clean out the books except for the 400.

@keithhurdles I agree. There were some magnificent results this weekend but none of them stand up to what she has done in comparison to the standing Missouri records and National standings. It would be like an 800 male runner posting a 1:50 or a miler running under 4:10 this early in the year. Not only in one race but 3 of them. She will rewrite every sprint record in Missouri and it may happen this year. A note on the 400. She coasted the last 20 meters because she had it locked up. She ran 55 seconds at 13 years old. The 400 record has a pretty good chance of going down also.

@torbrooks I have a good feeling Brandon from John Boroughs are about to put some otherworldly performances in the near future. Hasani Barr as well, who I don't think got enough credit last year and ended his summer going 47.41

@keithhurdles Totally agree. We are about to hit a really good time for Missouri Track and Field.

Where is Hansi Barr? I did not see results from him at Ladue's last meet. Also, we did highlight him in the Preseason All State 400 list http://mo.milesplit.com/articles/198858?page=3

I do agree with you all though: Alicia Burnett's performances Saturday are too incredible to ignore.
