The 100 Meter Dash at the Festival of Miles promises to add a new dimension of speed to the Festival of Miles. Here are some names we hope to see on the girls side.
Participants of all races will not only be facing off with great competetion, but they will receive a free Under Armour uniforms. Entry is FREE and it takes no time at all. If you have a time under 11 seconds for boys or 12.5 you can enter here. The top 8 entrants will be announced on May 26th (out-of-town participants may be notified earlier for travel arrangements.)
Aaliyah Brown, Lincoln-Way East, SR
We saw that Brown is the best in the Midwest. The Texas A&M bound senior has put on a road show with wins at both the Texas and Kansas Relays in the 100m. She also led her team to the Championship of America 4x100m Relay at Penn Relays where they set the All-Time Illinois best time for that event. We could go on and on about her accolades. Needless to say, having her at the Festival of Miles would be huge.
Ryan Preacely, Johnson College Prep
The Chicago Public School champ, Preacely dipped under 12 seconds to be the second fastest lady in Illinois.
Ashley Henderson, Hazelwood Central, JR
Henderson was fourth last year in a deep 100m field and third in the 200m. This year she has recorded an 11.96w to have the fastest FAT in Missouri. She looks to be among the favorites in both the 100m and 200m as the state series starts up in the Show-Me state this weekend.
Alexis Hyshaw, Lincoln-Way East, JR
Teammate with previously mentioned Aaliyah Brown, Hyshaw is another huge part of the All-Time #1 4x1 for the Griffins. Her 11.98 that placed her third in Kansas is third in the state of Illinois for the season.
Elexis Fairley, Morgan Park, SR
Fairley ran a good race to place second to Preacely at the Chicago Public School Championships this past weekend. She just missed cracking the 12 second barrier with a swift 12.02 clocking.
Britney Williams, St. Charles East, JR
Williams just missed cracking 12 seconds this season with her 12.03 time from her home meet in the beginning of April. She hasn’t gotten another chance at going in the 11’s because she has been running the 100m and 200m.
Jenna Moody, Plainfield Central, SR
Moody is another girl ready to break through the 12 second barrier. Her time of 12.05 was recorded this past week at her conference meet. With her sectional meet coming up we are expecting big things from the Plainfield Central senior who has 56 quarter speed.
Jazmin McCoy, Blue Springs, SR
After a transfer from North Kansas City, McCoy is back to her winning way at Blue Springs. A nationally ranked jumper (PR of 20-2.75) McCoy has a personal best of 11.74. She has run 12.08 this year but as the temperatures rise and competition gets greater closer to state she should be a name to watch out for.
Nataliyah Friar, Holt, SR
Another prolific jumper, Friar has two triple jump titles under her belt headed into her senior state series. Not a bad sprinter, Friar holds a strong 11.93 best with a 12.13 best this season.
Aiesha Irvin-Muhammad, St. Elizabeth Academy, SR
Irvin-Muhammad will be heading over to Illinios after this season as she is signed to compete for NIU starting next year. Her school moved from Class 3 to Class 2 this year and she is the strong favorite in Class 2 coming up next weekend. Irvin-Muhammed is entered to run in the Festival of Miles.
Whitney Adams, Francis Howell, SR
We want to see this girl at FOM. We really don’t care what. We’d be happy with her running either the (11.79 best) or the 1600m (5:11.94). Adams is a true talent. She goes from placing fifth in a stacked 100m to a 7th place finish in Cross Country!
