Preview
This race is shaping up to be a good one with the top two returning from last year in Anglerne Annelus of Grandview and Maya Cody of Lutheran South. The returning champ Annelus has the fastest time of the year with her 24.51 from early April. Cody, the Luthern South junior, has gone undefeated over 200 meters this spring. She also has the second fastest 400 this spring in Class 3 with her 56.08 from Sectionals. These two will have a lot of competition with 2 other girls having gone sub 25 this year. Annelus' teammate Ashanti Hutton beat Annelus at the Gary Parker Invitational earlier this spring. Hutton also holds the fastest time over 400 meters with her 55.51 from Sectionals. Not to mention, Kamira Franklin is the top seed in this race with her 24.61 from Sectionals. Franklin has only lost once in a final this year and it was in the 100 at Sectionals to her freshman teammate. These four, along with Westminster junior Saena Williams who narrowly missed the final last year, will make for a great race in Jeff City.
