Tuesday Top 10: Missouri Athletes Nationally Ranked

There have been some great performances turned in by Missouri athletes over the past few weeks so we thought it would be a good time to dedicate our weekly Top 10 list to let you know just how impressive these athletes are.

MileSplit has the most in-depth database of high school performances in the nation.  Rankings cited are current as of 4/22/13 at 1pm CST.

1, Hannah Long, EurkeaWe knew this sophomore was good but be prepared to be blown away by just how good. Hannah's 4:49.85 ranks 8th in the nation in the 1600m, her 2:12.90 ranks 12 for 800m and her 10:27.49 is 17th in the 3200m. As if three top 20 national performances were not impressive enough, the Eureka girls 4 x 880 Yard Relay conversion puts them at #15 in the 4 x800 meter relay. That's 4 top 20 national events for the sophmore from Eureka!

Josh McDonald, Timberland - Josh's #4 national ranking in the Discus makes him the highest ranked Missouri athlete in any single event.

3. Aaron Mallett, McCluer North - US #6 the the Boys 110m Hurdles - Aaron won the Brooks PR 60 meter hurdles in February and has not slowed down at all.

4. Taylor Werner, Ste Genevieve - The frehman phenom's 10:25.88 time for 3200m in which she defeated this list's #1, Hannah Long, currently ranks #13 on the US national list. 

5. Noah Kauppila, Marquette - His 3200m time at the Arcadia Invitational was one of the best ever for a Missouri prep athlete and currently ranks as #14 in the nation.

6. Eureka Girls 4 x 800 meter relay team. Angie Sumner, Eilish Overby, Megan Cunningham and Hannah Long ran as a unit for the first time this season at the Kansas Relays and proceeded to throw down a US #15 (converted) time in the 4 X800

7. Spencer Haik, Glendale  Spencer's 4:11.76 defeated our #9 at KU and currently ranks as #16 in the nation. Haik, Kauppila, Overby, Werner and Long are all underclassmen.

 

8. Asia Cole, Fort Osage - The defending state champion's throw of 46-1.5 in the Shot Put  ranks # 16 in the nation.

9. Amos Bartelsmeyer, MICDS - Currently sits at #19 in the national rankings but we supsect that like others on this list, his best performance of the season is still to come.

10. Nataliyah Friar, Holt - This multi-talented athlete's Triple Jump mark of 39-6.75 is #21 in the nation.
