Record Watch: Class 1 Record - 11.01 set in 2011, Top Seed: Nick Jones - 11.11
Nick Jones has emerged as the favorite in Class 1 headed into the state meet. The Missouri School for the Deaf junior posted an 11.11 at the Fatima meet and added an 11.13 at sectionals. He won early at UCM, then Fatima, then districts and sectionals. He was sixth back in 2011 as a freshman before a missing sophomore season. Now that he is back he is better than ever. After Jones it appears to be anyone’s race with Hunter Sturm and Eric Duncan ranked second and third. Both have times under 11.30 but another five are at 11.4 or better. It should be a close one with Jones close to breaking the record.
