Lamar, the favorites to win Class 2, could realistically pick up 24 points in this event. With the top three ranked throwers led by the Bailey brothers the Lamar trio is looking unreal. They picked up the standard and have swept through their district and sectional. Last year the threesome went 2, 6, 7, this year could be a 1, 2, 3 finish. Ben Bailey is the returning champ in the event and threw 171-6 at districts, just over two feet under the Class 2 Record. However to regain his title he will need to beat his brother Sam Bailey. Sam was 7th last year but has shown he can beat the reigning champ. His throw of 177-6 is well over the state record of 173-11. Austin Boice is the third seed. With a throw of 156-8 he has a bit of a cushion on the next competitor but with three other throwers over 150 feet he will need to be at the top of his game for Lamar to be able to complete the 1-3 sweep.
