Preview
Grandview has formed a successful team over the last couple of years built around sprints. With two straight team titles, it has been in large part due to races like the 100. Last year they nearly swept the top three spots, finishing first, third, and fourth. This year they are led by Jaymes Kelly, the third place finisher from a year ago. He comes in with the top time, 10.82 which puts him just .02 seconds ahead of Warrenton’s Devin Ray. Also in this field and someone you have to keep an eye on is Ezekiel Elliott. Ranked 8th in Class 3 might not be noteworthy but he is an athlete. Headed to the Ohio State to play football in the fall, Elliott excels on the track as well. He put up some great battles against Grandview’s Dapo Akinmoladun in previous years, collecting one gold medal back in 2011 and the third fastest time ever in Class 3 for the 110’s in 2012. Yes, it isn’t much time between events, but Elliott is an expert at this double by now.
