Preview
Sectional 3 saw the fastest two times in the Class, 48.53 and 48.61. The men who did it are both returning all-state runners, Griffin McCurren and Haryl Starkley. Starkley, eighth a year ago, topped McCurren, the runner-up in 2012. Starkley was stuck at 50 throughout the season before finally dipping in the 49’s at districts and continued down to 48 this past weekend. Another name to watch for is Donavan Ayers of Normandy. Ayers was second in a deep field at Marion Freeman and third at Kirkwood. He has always been in the mix at the larger meets in the St. Louis area, giving him quality race experience that should come in handy this weekend.
