Preview
With only two returners and the top two jumpers only separated by an inch its hard to pick a favorite in this event. Shane Williams, one of the two retuerns, comes back from a fifth place finish a year ago. He posted the top mark in Class 3 at Sectional 3, 22-6. That puts him exactly an inch further than Donavan Ayers of Normandy, also among the favorites in the 400m. After those two there are two other jumpers over the 22 foot barrier – Deon Mille-Harris and Tyler McClinton. McClinton, a sophomore from Sikeston continues to string of strong long jumpers from his team. The won this event from 2008 to 2010 before a third place finish in 2011 and 11th in 2012.
