Two prolific jumpers will have one last shot at the record books. Jazmin McCoy, returning state champion, jumped a mind-boggling 20-2.75 in late July last year at the AAU National Junior Olympics. This mark would top the nearly 30 year old state record by over four inches. This season has found McCoy in the 20 foot range as she has a season best of 19-0.25, still the top mark in Missouri. She will once again have to defeat Nataliyah Friar, second in the long jump in 2012, if she hopes to defend her title and add a precious ten points to Blue Springs total. Friar has missed much of the season, but she jumped a MO#2 back in early April. The triple jump is her stronger of the two as she has won that event for two straight years, but adding a long jump gold would be the icing on the cake for the senior.
