Four guys come in with the same season best mark of 15 feet. One of those, Joey Burkett, is the defending state champion. Burkett, who cleared 16-1 last year, dealt with an early season injury which has limited his performances down the road. The future Mizzou football player hasn’t cleared 15 feet since early April, setting his season best mark at the Capital City Relays. Another man at 15 feet, Logan Brattain, is one of the two entrants who cleared 14-9 at sectionals to get the top seed at State. The Lee’s Summit West senior has improved greatly every year, going from 8-6 to 12-6 to 13-0 before gaining two feet his senior year, clearing 15-0 at his conference meet. Another man at 15-0 is Dillon Rush of Jackson. Rush took Sectional 1 with a clearance of 14-0, a foot off his best set back in early April. The fourth and final person at 15-0 is Austin Barousse of Poplar Bluff. The senior was second place behind Burkett in 2012. He tied with Rush for first in sectional 1, both clearing 14-0. He cleared 15-0 at districts which put his name in the mix for victory this weekend.
