The State Track Meet could begin with a new state record. Heather Glenn cleared 12-6 at her conference meet, an inch better than the state record set in 2007. The Class 4 record is likely to go down as it stands at 12-3. There are a number of other strong competitors such as Sierra Maddox and the Wickersham Twins. Maddox, a junior at Jackson, cleared the best mark at sectionals, 12-0. Staci and Megan Wickersham return from their 10th and 3rd place finishes a year ago. Staci has set the tone for the twins this year, clearing a best of 11-9 at sectionals. Both have had difficulties practicing (read Craig Martin’s article about them here), and it has showed as Megan is 8 inches off her best mark from 2012. While she is seeded 13th, it is worth mentioning that 2012 champ Brittany Kallenberger has a freshman sister in the field.
