You have to work to defend your title. Cydnee Reese, O’Hara senior, has now won this event two years in a row but comes in ranked second by a bit of a gap. The threw 145-10 at the Raymore-Peculiar Invitational, better than her winning mark from the past two years, but still is almost five feet behind Bre Zander. Zander finished 8th in the shot put a year ago but has found incredible success in this event this year. She chucked the discus 150-7 at her district meet, a mark that is just outside the top three performances in Class 3 history. Zander won her sectional, sectional 3, throwing the top mark of the weekend of 137-5. Reese had a rough weekend, finishing third in this event and fourth in the shot put. If she is on top of her game these two should provide some great competition for each other.
