Nataliyah Friar will be attempting to do something only three girls have done – win the Class 4 girls triple jump for three years in a row. However, she will have her work cut out for her as this is the deepest field ever. After missing much of the season due to an injury, Friar, who holds the fifth best mark in state history, comes in ranked third. The top ranking goes to Kezia Martin, third in 2012. Her jump of 40-8 from sectionals would rank her second in State History if she could duplicate it this weekend. The record, 40-9.25 set in 1995 is in jeopardy to say the least. Friar, a future LSU Tiger, jumped 40-4 prior to this year. Also ahead of Friar in the rankings is McKenzie Wright, a junior from Camdenton. Wright transferred from Liberal Kansas where she was second in the triple jump in 2012. Five more girls come in with season bests in the 38’s, making finishing in the top eight and getting a medal no easy task.
