This past Track and Field season we ran a Tuesday Top 10 list each week. These lists are just for fun.  If you think we missed someone on this list please feel free to comment or email peverett@milesplit.com

Up first we look at 10 girls entering their final year of high school.

1. Jamie Kempfer  - We used last year's XC seasons performances as well as the spring track season to formuate this list. However, this Festus senior leap frogged others based on her performance at the St. Louis Track Club XC Kickoff, where she was the first overall finisher. We think she's ready for a big year after a 12th place finish in Class 3 in 2012.

2. Jill Whitman - The Cor Jesu standout enters her senior year after winning the Class 4 Girls 3200 in the spring.  She was 15th in Class 4 XC last year and we think will be a threat come November.

3. Kristen Adams  - Adams was 5th in Class 4 last XC season and a strong case could be made that she should be #1 on this list. After all, she is the top returner from the state champs from Francis Howell.

4. Kennadee Williams - Speaking of state championship teams, Lees Summit West looks to begin a new streak of titles and will likely be lead Kennadee who we expect to improve on her 8th place finish in Class 4 last XC season.

5. Melissa Brown - When you look at the progress Melissa has made over her first three seasons going from a 21:10 to 19:41 and finally a 19:18 at  the state meet you will understand why she earns a top 5 spot on our list.

6. Shelby Werner - This Ste Genevieve senior knows a thing a two about winning as she paired with her younger sister, Taylor to lead Ste Gene to a Class 3 title in 2012.

7. Courtney Rogers - Coming off a very impressive spring season where she finished 2nd in the 3200 and first in the 1600 we think this Lutheran St. Peters senior will be tough to beat this fall. She was 3rd in Class 2 last season behind Fischer and Barzowski who are now in college.

8. Nicole Lee  - This senior from Clinton has been a fixture at the top of rankings in Missouri over her high school career and we once again think she will have an impressive season.

9. Sammy Laurenzo - First of all we think everyone should click on Sammy's name to see what's she has done with the new and improved athlete profile pages.  Sammy has battled injuries and illness in her high school career and still finds a way to be in the lead pack. We think this Liberty North senior may have her best season in 2013.

10. Arnica Zitting - It is no coincidence that the only team with two girls on this list is the defending state champs from Francis Howell. Zitting was also a member of a state championship squad at Stockton.
