The 2013 XC season kicks into high gear with a number of meets across the state this weekend. MoMileSplit is planning on-site photo coverage from 4 meets over the next couple of days.
Meets with On-Site Photo Coverage:
Friday: First Capitol (we hope) - It's been a long time since this race has been run. How long has it been? - Krista Menghini and Daniel Everett are still the defending girls and guys champions due to the meet being cancelled in 2011 (heat) and 2012 (rain). Jamie Kempfer of Festus is coming off a pre-season win in the St, Louis Track Club XC Kickoff and the Fleet Feet race held at Quail Ridge Park and is expected to compete. On the guys side, Michael Karls and Tyler Gilliam went 1-2 in Wentzville and will lead a solid Festus boys team.
Saturday: Liberty Invitational - This is a shorter race (about two miles) but we expect the states #2 ranked boys and girls teams from Rock Bridge to be at this meet but we expect a challenge from the host school in this one.
Saturday: Jackson Invitational - Always a fun race held at Jackson City Park that is run by class. The freshmen run 1.9 miles while the rest of the field runs 2.35 miles.
Saturday: SWCCCA - A large meet held in different locations across Southwest Missouri. This year’s meet will be held on the campus of Southwest Baptist University. Last year’s race was won by the Spencer Haik, the #1 returner from the state meet in Class 4 and the holder of the #1 spot on the 2013 Big River Running Company Pre-Season rankings.
